Web site history since 1998
2006 to 2010
Peter Duxbury's cousin, Ronald Taylor, takes over the maintenance of this website.
More names added and corrections made to the Family Tree.
Request from Margaret Hargreaves for any information on the ancestors of Alice Ann Duxbury 1869-1956 who was Margaret's first cousin three times removed. Please contact Margaret with any information. You can find Margaret and Alice Ann in the Main Family Tree file.
The link to the descendants of Ralph Duxbury of Colne now points to an area of this website as the previous link was broken. The details are believed to be the same.
More names added and corrections made to the Family Tree, largely thanks to information from Ruth Duxbury and Beverly Sue Hartshorn.
Links updated with broken links repaired. (Hopefully all of them!)
It is a contuning task adding more names and correcting errors which have crept in. Since last December more Ashworth family members have been added, thanks to Ruth Duxbury's research. Her side of the family are only linked to the main Duxbury tree via two Duxbury / Ashworth marriages.
Stephen Prior noted an error on one of his ancestors; Stephen was shown as being descended from the wrong Walter Duxbury. Now corrected and hopefully no more similar errors.
There have been other minor updates thanks to many people e-mailing me with minor additions. Keep them coming as the marriages and births occur.
Finally the Taylor tree has doubled in size, but still only 130 names.
Hopefully all the links will now work when viewed with Firefox. If there are still problems please let me know.
Link to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for the Debt of Honour restored.
Duxbury Family and Taylor Family listings updated. The Taylor Family now has 289 names (as compared to the 12,720 for the Duxbury Family). Work on updating the main page continues but will not be uploaded until 2010.
A second update this month with corrections and additional family members to the Family Tree. As for the earlier update, these are largely thanks to information from Glenn Taylor, Gordon Andrew and Margaret Parker. The changes mainly affect the Fish and the Ashworth families who married into the Duxburys. The next update will be to add some photographs taken by Geoff Duxbury when he visited Duxbury, MA. - Sorry not yet done, in spite of promises!
George Carr Duxbury (Born in Leeds 21 Aug 1875 and died about 1930)
The Barwick-in-Elmet Historical Society, jointly with Lotherton Hall (Leeds Museum Service), are undertaking a project centred on a group of artists from Leeds, who in the 1890s, rented a thatched cottage in Barwick-in-Elmet as a weekend retreat. The material includes contributions from George Carr Duxbury who became head of the Thanet Art School - Sketches by him and a sketch of him and photographs and other items of interest.
Further updates largely as a result of invaluable input from the Darwen Roots Group.
Still further updates largely as a result of invaluable input from the Darwen Roots Group and Ruth Duxbury.A separate Family Tree of the Prestwiches has been added to supplement the Family Tree of the Taylors, both will be expanded when time allows. Compared to the Duxbury tree these are only small trees with some 367 and 825 names at present. Thanks to Ian Rhodes and the Palmers from New Zealand for the details of their Prestwich branches.
The main Prestwich Tree links to the Duxbury Tree through my parents; my paternal great grand mother was a Prestwich. The information, such as it is, is believed to be correct and it is hoped that their inclusion will inspire others to provide information which will enable their expansion.
