The Pedigree of the Family of Prestwich has Edmund born in 1587 but shows him as the eldest son.

Seized of the manor of Hulme and messuages, lands etc there and in Manchester, Salford, Crumpsall, Oldham, Crompton, Chorlton, also Chortlon Road, Rusholme, Fallowfield and Withington.

Suceeded as heir; created Baronet, 25 April 1644; fined (with son Thomas) by the Sequestrators Ł330, 1648; mortgaged the manor of Hulme to Nicholas Mosley of Ancoats, July 15 1645; Act passed confirming the sale of teh manor of Hulme and lands in Manchester to Sir Edward Mosley 1661; died without surviving issue, 1689.
