Nicholas Duxbury married Ellen Nutter at Great Harwood August 30th 1601. She was the daughter of Ellis Robinson of Goldshawbooth, yeoman, and widow of Richard Nutter, son and heir apparent of William Nutter of Goldshawbooth. John Nutter, Batchelor of Divinity and Dean of Chester suurendered lands in Goldshawbooth, Higham and Higham Dean of the copyhold rent of 20s 5 1/2d to Richard Nutter in consideration of his marriage with Ellen Robinson and on the 9th November 1602 Nicholas Duxbury and Ellen his wife claimed a fourth part of these lands as dower instigating proceedings against relatives of Richard Nutter for ELLEN’s widow’s portion

DUXBURY OF THRAPSTON
After the death, without issue, of Lawrence DUXBURY in 1748, the estates pass to the two sons Richard and William of his late Uncle William DUXBURY of Thrapston.
A disentailing deed of 25 Feb 1776, made by Richard DUXBURY, late of Sandy and now of Thrapston, cousin of Lawrence DUXBURY of Dean; together with Henry DUXBURY of Oakham, the eldest son of William DUXBURY of Uppingham, nephew of Richard; in respect of the following property: tenement in Witton called Eyes with 30ac land, tenement in Livesey called Acre House with 6ac land, tenements in Clayton called Duxbury's Cottages with 7ac land. (History of Clayton le Moors).
The 1777 will of Richard DUXBURY of Thrapston (PROB 11 PCC wills PRO); bequeaths his share of the above premises, together with his half of certain copyhold lands in Pendle, also surrendered jointly with his nephew Henry DUXBURY of Oakham, to sister Sarah GRIFFIN, widow, nephews William & John GRIFFIN, brother in law John WELLS and nephew John WELLS, basket maker of Kettering.
The baptisms for the children of William of Uppingham and Henry of Thrapston (Oakham), as well as the 1734 marriage of Sarah DUXBURY to Wm.GRIFFIN, are in the Rutland IGI.

In 1649 Mrs Ellena DUXBURIE de Goldshawbooth, widow, surrendered a messuage in which Lucia SMITH and Thomas HAUGHTON dwell and closes called Stainscombe, Spout-hill, Ringstones, Murgeon etc in Goldshawbooth to the use of Nicholas DUXBURY her younger son for life (Laycock).
