JAMES COATES FOUND UNCONSCIOUS IN AUTO
James Giffin Coates, 56, a resident of Sumner since 1947, was found unnconscious in his car in his garage at 1102 Academy Street at 8:10 P.M. Tuesday and despite efforts of Sumner firemen, who worked almost two hours to revive him, he failed to recover consciousness. A Sumner physician reported he could have either suffered a heart attack, or that carbon monoxide poisoning was the cause of death. He was found by a neighbor, Lott Powers, who pulled him out of the car, which had the motor running in the garage. Mr. Coates was first discovered by his wife, who ran to get aid from Powers, who after pulling him from the car, called firemen.
The deceased was born Sept. 7, 1893 in South Dakota, and is survived by his widow, Rubie, one son, Jerrol, of Riverton, Wyoming;two daughters, Marilyn, of Sumner, and Mrs. James Forkin of Martinsdale, Montana.
