James was not living, at least not with the family on the 1st day of June, 1880. Family sources
mention Dallas, TX, as place of death.

James Duxbury
Married Dorcas Webster in Salem shortly after John and his father left there. She came from Vermont. James and his wife went to Fillmore County, Minnesota and entered land on Partridge
Creek which he afterward sold to Edward. They were not thrifty. They had two children:
Albert (Thomas Duxbury Jr. knows him)
Julia (Probably not mentally normal and was in poor house when last heard from).
About 1874 James and Dorcas separated and Dorcas with the two children went to St. Lawrence County, New York. They all got together again at Hamilton, Texas, where they lived until James died. The fact of his death was not reported to those in Minnesota until five years later when it was claimed that he was accidentally Killed. There is a suspicion in the family that the death, while violent, was not accidental and that Dorcas had something to do with it. Dorcas is now dead.
James probably died around 1879. He first appeared in the tax list in Hamilton Co. TX in 1878 and disappeared from the list in 1879. He bought land in Hamilton Co. in 1876. He is not in the census in 1880, but Dorcas, Albert, and Julia are. (See log, James Duxbury death research)
