John and his family emigrated to U.S.A. ca. 1849. They located in the Town of Westampton, Burlington County, NJ, according to the 1850 Census. In ca. 1851, the family reportedly moved from New Brunswick, NJ to Lonsdale, RI. Three years later John reportedly moved to the town of Springvale, Fond du Lac County, WI according to the 1855 Wisconsin Census. In the summer of 1855, he purchased a farm near Sechlerville, Jackson County, WI and built a log cabin. John sent for his wife and three small children and were reunited on Christmas Day.

Apparently divorced prior to June 1894 when Adeline married again
